The parody shop
Fielder, a Canadian television comedy personality, announced that his show was behind the mysterious appearance of a “Dumb Starbucks” outlet in Los Feliz.
Crowds of people line up for hours to catch a glimpse of the state’s newest sensation. But the attention might be fading for the parody shop now that health officials has slapped the store with a notice of closure.
There had been widespread rumors that “Dumb Starbucks” is just an elaborate publicity grab.
Shortly after the press conference, the store came to an end when health regulators shut the space down, saying it violated trademark rights.
“We are evaluating next steps and while we appreciate the humor, they cannot use our name, which is a protected trademark,” a Starbucks spokesperson said in a statement.
