‘2 Guns’ starring the likes of Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg raced to the top at the box office in its opening weekend. The Universal movie based on a graphic novel by the same name raked in a whopping $27 million. The story of the film revolves around Washington who plays a DEA Agent and Wahlberg as a Naval Intelligence Officer who team up for an undercover operation that involves the CIA and drug traffickers.

Other releases that made it big in the weekend box office include Fox’s ‘The Wolverine’ and Sony’s ‘The Smurfs 2’. While the former garnered $21 million to stand at the second place, Sony’s baby came in third with $17.5 million in earnings.
In the top 5 during the weekend were ‘The Conjuring’ and ‘Despicable Me 2’ that were higher up in the rankings during their opening weekends. Another release of Sony, ‘Grown Ups 2’stood at the sixth position with revenue of $7.9 million to show.
